Middle School Class Experiences

trips

St. Therese middle school students are blessed with amazing opportunities to explore the outdoors and our nation’s capital together. Each year, beginning in 6th-grade, our students participate in a class trip to either:

  • Wolf Ridge, Finland, MN
  • YMCA Camp Widjiwagan, Ely, MN
  • Washington D.C.

Individual trips have a slightly different focus, but all of them bring our students closer as they explore, work together, and experience nature or learn first-hand about our nation's rich history.

Wolf Ridge and Camp Widjiwagan provide learning experiences that have a lasting impact on our students' perspective on the outdoors. These trips instill environmental awareness and an urgency to be champions of the environment. At both location students focus on the following:

Building awareness, curiosity, and sensitivity to the natural world
Developing social understanding, respect, and cooperation among each other
Modeling values, behaviors and technologies which lead to a sustainable lifestyle
Promoting the concepts of conservation and being a positive global citizen
In eighth-grade student’s cap off their St. Therese experience with a class trip to Washington D.C. This trip is a highlight for our students and one that provides lasting class memories. Whether it’s the Smithsonian, the halls of Congress, or having fun together walking to/from D.C. landmarks - this enriching experience is one that our students never forget and often solidifies the lasting friendships.
